How Verification Works
Every story on this site is backed by independent sources. We don't make claims we can't verify. Here's how we categorize the confidence level of each story:
Level A Verified
2+ independent reputable sources (wire services, major papers, public broadcasters) with no material conflicts between them.
Level B Corroborated
2 sources but with minor conflicts or discrepancies that are clearly stated on the story page.
Level C Provisional
Only 1 source available, OR details remain uncertain. These stories cannot be used to gate pin submissions.
Level D Rejected
The claim was found to be false or unsupported. These stories are not displayed publicly.
Our Sourcing Rules
- We require at least 2 independent reputable sources for a story to be marked "Verified"
- We store the title, publisher, publish date, URL, and a short excerpt for each source
- We write a neutral summary (2-4 sentences) that sticks to verifiable facts
- We note "What We Know" and "What We Don't Know" separately
- If common misstatements exist, we call them out explicitly
Community Input
Users cannot edit facts. But you can submit:
- New sources for an existing story
- A suggested correction
- A new candidate story (goes to moderation queue)
